June 15, 2008
The 5th annual Skip Matthews was run on June 15 to commemorate the life of this exceptional friend, parent, husband and personality. This year was a great success as more than 300 runners came together to raise $13,000 for cancer research at Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
It was a terrific day for running, as more than 250 runners took on the 4-mile run and another 50 enjoyed the 1-mile fun run. After completing their races, runners enjoyed a scrumptious barbeque hosted by Salt Hill Pub and were treated to live music on the Lebanon, NH green.
Since its start in 2004, the event has generated over $50,000 in support of the Brain Tumor Research Fund. Hundreds of runners, walkers, volunteers and sponsors come together each year in support of this community event, which celebrates the spirited life of one of the areas most well known personalities, Skip Matthews. Our gratitude goes to the race committee, who works together all year to make this event a success, and to all those involved in making it happen.
